Help identifying this part, looks like a slight oil leak.

part listed ast 11831 specifically. Cover-oil Separator. my car looks like there has been a little oil leaking out of there on the passenger side. the oil and coolant levels are never low, the car hardly burns any oil, and i've got like 46,000 miles on it.

Looks like an oil separator baffle that bolts to the top of the cam cover. Does a hose attach to that separator? That's a typical place to mount such baffles - a high point is less likely to suck oil that might work its way into the valvetrain area under high g-loads. All of my old Chevies had a baffle integrated into the valve cover right below the rubber grommet that was made for the PCV valve. The baffle just helps keep some of the heavier oil vapors from being sucked into the intake system under high vacuum conditions.

It's probably just a little seepage over time, nothing to be overly concerned about.

ur in the same boat as me. i had a leak around there too... tiny one. i ended up just taking the valve cover and replaced the seals inside of the part ur looking at and the valve cover. fairly simpl job and very unexpensive for you to do yourself. i just took the safe root instead of letting it drip more.

oops... the rocker thing i was refering to is the two seals inside the valve cover.... forget it. but no mistake on everything being fairly simple.
