slight knock like noise

slight knock like noise

ok so about friday i noticed i had a slight knock like sound coming from my driver side...i recently just changed the oil and have absolutely no leaks....oil level was fine...just getting some input, got a complete turboback system with stock catted uppipe any help would be great, thanks guys and next time im in town around a meet ill stop by forsure

no not tuned, but according to a couple places the 02-03 with just a turbo back exhaust dont need a tune do to the uppipe being catted? if thats not true and this is whats causing it to make the sound then im going to get a tune asap

well, is this noise rpm specific? Knock has a very distinct rapping sound that makes me cringe

no it stays at about the same noise level throughtout the rpms....doesnt get any louder when on the throttle as compared to being at idle

is it coming from the engine compartment on the driver side? Does it seem to be a little louder at start up?

it is the drivers side of engine and its maybe a tad louder at start up but not to noticeable

it could be the gay heatshields that subaru uses, almost all of the welds on my shields snapped off and started rattling? if not that, you could use a knock sensor or something to see if its something internally

going to use a knock sensor and see if its anything internal, if not then its got to be the heat shields...this weekend im gutting the up and tuning by possibly sunday
