HELP! Broke something during crank pulley installation!

I tried to install the perrin crank pulley earlier. I followed the instruction on scoobymods and everything went fine, until i got to this bolt.

-Here is the pix of the bolt. I kept on turning it (counter clock wise) until i heard couple cracking noise. at first i thought it was just the bolt budging lose.

- But no, it wasn't the bolt breaking lose. It was this black thing around the bottom on that bolt cracked!

-Here is another pix of it.

Now i can't tighten up that bolt. It just hung lose right next to the other pulley. Will I be able to drive to a local shop to get it fix? I'm afraid the bottom of the bolt will rub against that pulley.

that's just a belt tension adjustment. you can live without it, but it will be a PITA to adjust the tension of the belt. probably easiest with two people--one to apply tension (perhaps with a broomstick, etc) and the other to clamp it down again.

you can probably get a replacement at your dealer.

Yup what he said ... belt tensioner .... fix it before you drive it, you don't want you belt to prematurely wear out, amongst other things .... eg water pump not properly working thus engine over heat ....

OUCH...

Well unless i'm mistaken turning the bolt counter clockwise doesn't loosen the pulley, it tightens the belt. I hope what you cracked was just a platic stopper and not the threads that guide the pulley itself.

seems like you didn't loosen the locking bolt on the pulley next to the area that broke.
