Talking Helix Up and Down Pipe Installed!!

Hey guys,

I just want to add some information for those who are going to be searching for the inevitable up pipe and down pipe installs and reviews. So here is one more for the Helix up pipe (flex) and downpipe.

I had my friends two brothers (mechanics, one with a plus 500 hp supra [480 at the wheels] and the other with an IS300 [250 at the wheels]) install my pipes at their shop. From entrance to end it took exactly 3 hours. We (they) started at 9 and were done putting tools away at 12. We had use of a lift and all the tools you could imagine.

Everything fit up snug. Both of them envied the Downpipe!! When they were about to put it on they said "Time for the bling bling." I must agree, i'm very impressed with the build quality by Helix, especially after seeing that post on the Scooby Sport pipes.

These are the only mods done to the car (although I see myself going crazy as the money comes through). I'm very impressed for the amount of money I've spent 450 from Gruppe-S (very reliable vendor btw). There is a good amount of power on the lower end (don't expect drastic changes, but definately enough to notice a difference). And third gear comes and goes pretty quickly. Driving around town is much more friendly with that extra power on tap at the lower rpm.

As far as sound goes, I don't believe it to be much louder. The only discernable difference between stock and the up and down pipes is the whistle of the turbo spooling. I can imagine after installing a cat back that this would be a sweet sweet sounding car.

Hope this helps those who are doing the search on this upgrade. Its well worth it.

enjoy!

Edit: This system does remove ALL cats. And it does bolt up directly to the stock catback. We did have to lift the engine a little to get out the up-pipe, but I believe with a little more fudging we could have avoided that. Intercooler had to come off (not hard). And we trimmed the heat sheild so it would fit over the new DP.

Well I'm glad to be of help. My next steps are going to be a hi-flow cat an a muffler with a shop doing all the piping (gotta save money you know). that way I can at least run in the STX class for AutoX. Then its the reflash of the ecu, suspension, etc. etc. etc. Boy I'm in some trouble!!
