I'm shopping around for a catted downpipe. It looks like Helix is in my price range, but i heard that it has trouble fitting on 04 wrx's. Is that true? If it is, what can i do to it so it will fit? Soomeone told me the tranny mounts get in the way.

 

It depends on what version Helix downpipe. IIRC the V2 fits good and the V3 had issues with fitment....but dont take my word for it, research to make sure.

I have the V2 on my wagon. No fitment issues at all. If you have to "get something to fit" you should probably get something else.

 

I have a helix catted downpipe v3 on my 05 wrx.. fitment was not so good. I had to bend my tranny bracket down to get it to clear, then I ended up getting kartboy xl hangers because it still banged on my cross member a little.
on top of that there wasn't enough space on the flange to get the nut on the downpipe(where it bolts to the turbo). i had to end up grinding the lip of the nut off so i could get the nut on.
I would recommend you go with the titek unit, if you want a decently priced catted downpipe. although I heard the cat on the titek in not as good as the helix one.
I like my helix downpipe but I had a lot of problems, but now its great..........

 

The Titek cat isn't as good in what way? Cleaner emissions? Freer flowing?

 

the helix has a 200 cell cat and the titek has a 150 cell cat.
the cell rating is how dense the cell structure is per square inch
the stock one is about 400 cell

 

so because the cell count is less than stock...would that make it not pass smog??

but I heard a rumor that helix catted downpipes will pass smog. but when It comes to the time when I need to smog my car I'm going to throw back on the stock down pipe on to be sure it will pass smog.
