gutted stock DP

I'm currently running a full 3" TBE w/ hiflo cat, and a catless uppipe and cobb stage 2. I want to quiet things down to "stock" quiet at the expense of losing some power. I was thinking about using a stock gutted DP with stock 3rd cat, resonator, and muffler. Maybe I'll add an sti axleback.

Does anyone have experience with a gutted stock DP with cobb stage 2?

Thanks

I've been running a gutted stock dp on a cobb stage 2 car for just under two years now.

No problems at all.

I have an 04.

Is that true, an sti muffler is the same as an 05 muffler? I thought the 05 bottlenecked after the flange just like the 02-04 twin tip mufflers. I know the tips look similar.

I used to have an oval tipped Scorpion. Exactly the same as the Prodrive oval except it had a scorpion on the tip. I agree, it's very quiet for an aftermarket exhaust, but I'm looking for "stock" quiet.

I just bought a used Stromung DW DP instead of the gutted stock DP. I'm thinking the new setup will be sti UP, Stromung DP and stock 3rd/resonator/axleback. I know I'll be leaving some power on the table, but it will be very quiet, and I'll have at least one cat (I won't go catless). Maybe later I'll add a Stromung hi/flo 3rd cat later.

The pipes are the same size at the flange on the 02-05 wrx muffler and the STI muffler. However, if you look right past the flange, the wrx mufflers taper down about .25". The STI muffler does not taper right after the flange.
