Gruppe-S Heat Shield... how the hell???

How the hell do I install the Gruppe-S turbo heat shield. I know it installs on the tranny boldt but I can not get the damn thing in there... do I have to remove the intercooler to do this? God I hope not...if so, how do i remove the intercooler.

Any advice would be appreciated...

p.s. I have a B&B divorced wastegate downpipe.

you have to loosens the clamps on the throttle body and the turbo . . . then you take off the 2 gold bolts on the side of the intercooler and disconnect all the hoses connecting it... there should be 3, you might wanna take off the bypass valve too to make it easier. then you just keep shaking it left and right till it comes off. the only hard part is putting it back on because its hard to get the "Y" hose back on the turbo...good luck !

I'm not so sure, but if you ever do, removing the intercooler is very easy. I've never done anything like it when I had to remove my intercooler when I was installing my boost gauge. I just followed the bolts... it's very easy!

Better to take the intercooler off

I just installed it on friday. You can get the bolt from the tranny off without taking the intercooler out but it is almost impossible to tighten the bolt back up once the heat shield is in place.
It is worth the trouble to take the intercooler off, because you'll be messing around with that bolt forever trying to get it back in.

very true...you might as well get the silicone ic hoses at the same time. They will make the re-install of the ic much easier.
