So normally when I go to fill up my tank with gas I let the pump do its job till it "clicks" signaling that its full. Typically I'll give to a quick squeeze or two more.
Then I hop in and start the car, then reset the trip odo. Normally the gas gauge will reach the top if not slightly over the F. Last night I did the same I always do but when I started the car, the gauge never reached the F level.
Typically ill get anywhere from 75-100 miles once the needle hits a quarter tank (depending on driving style and freeway/city). Well last night I had to go pick up my fiance in Elk Grove (70mph the whole way there and back with no major accelerations). So now my trip odo has 60miles on it from the time I got gas and its already just below quarter tank..
Ideas?

Gas stations aren't laboratory consistent, and the flow rate of each pump will vary depending on a bunch of variables such as filter cleanliness etc. etc.
The pump shuts off when it senses fuel coming back into the nozzle, so this may have happened prematurely because of excess fuel foam coming back because of a higher than average flowrate.
My mom's boxster does this if you don't stand there and hold the nozzle. It's spout doesn't keep the nozzle perpendicular, so the shutoff system is ultra sensitive.

Do the pumps constantly change? Or would you usually seem to have problems with the same pumps?
hmmm I dunno really. That's happened to me before and I came up with a possible cause, which is only my opinion/theory/possible B.S. I'm not a gas pump technician
All else I can really say is to check your evap system if this starts to become a frequent occurrence?
