FYI: group N engine mounts
Hello All;
I had posted this topic on another message board, but I thought it would be good to do the same here. People here seem to be a bit more technically oriented...
The bottom line is that the engine mounts that come with ANY factory subaru STI (including type RA and RA spec C) are NOT hardened group N mounts.
Now, I cannot say if this is true for the exotic limited edition cars like the type 22b, but I have compared a set of engine mounts taken off of a JDM version 8 type RA spec C engine with mounts taken off of my USDM WRX. They have the same geometry and rubber compound. I also compared both of them to a set of group N mounts that I purchased from Rallispec. The group N mount rubber is MUCH harder. In addition, when I was at Rallispec, we looked up the engine mount part numbers, and they are identical for WRX, STI and permutations of STI.
So, don't buy STI take offs if you want a set of hardened mounts...

Yep this is true, there is no STI hardended mount only a mount that is designed to come with the Group N bushing kit (an optional extra else where in the world)

This actually goes for all of the bushings on the car. Control arm bushings, subframe bushings, etc. All the bushings that are available as group N bushings aren't standard on any factory car.
