Fulltime Power on cigerette lighter?

Is there a way to re-wire cigarette lighter to stay on full time so I can charge my phone while the car is not running? Is it recommended or safe?

Find a constant power source and tap into it

12v constant power on the head unit would work I believe.

I think your car battery would be dead faster than you expect. Leave your door ajar for a night and see if you can start the next morning - a smartphone is going to draw a lot more current than that little lightbulb and take 4-6 hours to charge.

Yeah, it'll kill the battery a lot faster than you think. We had that problem at work because the Lincolns do have an always-on outlet.

Were you wanting to sit out in the car for 4 hours while your phone charged, or were you planning on leaving the phone in the car charging? I think they make phone chargers that you can plug into the power supply of any modern building.
