Sometimes when I enter my car I smell fuel. Not all the time but it is usually after I have driven it for awhile but sometimes after it has sat overnight. Thoughts? Ideas?? The person who had it before me left some stuff loose when he removed his bolt ons and replaced them with stock before he traded it in? Could the fuel pressure reg be loose? Fuel injectors not seated? Thanks in advance!

 

I've had a little fuel smell in my car since I installed sti injectors and a walbro, but I have checked it for leaks and can't find any. I think it is ok, I get the same mpg as other people with sti pinks. Is your mpg less? any noticable leaks under the car?

 

Gets decent MPG, no leaks noticed. I notice it the most when I do a fill up. I let it stop on its on and do not try to pump more in per the manual. I seal the cap to ensure no engine codes. I had a Mustang GT before this so the flat 4 is new to me. How easy (or hard) is it to check the fuel injectors color codes? Thanks for the reply btw.

 

What mods have you done to the car?
Have you changed out the fuel pump. Sometimes that rubber gasket on the cover needs to be replaced. That will give you the gas smell if it's torn or not seated right.

 

Wash your hands after you fill up, and after using the bathroom and before meals. J/K.

 

the fuel pump assembly gasket should be replaced very time you open it. i've seen several where the old gasket was re-used and seated properly and it still leaked. after replacing it, mine looked like it had been chewed up by a rat. it looked great when we re-used it but it leaked bad.

 

I purchased the car pre-owned about 4 weeks ago. The guy who had it before me had some mods on it. From what I can tell there was a front mounted intercooler and an up and down pipe. He removed all of the mods (except suspension) before trading in the car. As far as I know the car is stock motorwise down to the exhaust.
