First performance tweak

You should really look into the characteristics of the catback system before jumping in (Tone, Decibles etc.)
Instead of the coldair intake you could just do the silencer mod
Look at turboxs and vishnu performance for other ideas on stage kits.
Both of these companies are highly touted throughout this forum.

lets just say you have already finished w/ suspension and brake mods.
the first power mods you can go are an Uppipe and turboback system. Its a day and night difference.
then some sort of boost controller and an air intake system.

Second question. I am considering picking up a COBB Phase one performance kit, with cold air intake, and cat-back system. For about $800, is this a good place to start, bang for buck wise? Other suggestions?

$800 will get you a turboback and you only need a K&N drop in filter for HP levels under 400HP.
under 400hp with just catback and a drop in filter eh?
Man i have a catback too with a drop in K&N filter and i dont have 400hp. This would mean that I can beat my friends brand new M3...................................

Not a big fan of CAIs. BIG waste of money when the stock unit is just as capable. An uppipe would and downpipe would probably give the best gains at the least amount of money at this point, along with an ECU reflash.

CAI
Cobb and Vishnu specifically state: " Stock intakes only". I've spoken with both, and they say MAPs are too inconsistant with CAI. Also reflashes are are allowing you to run a leaner mixture. With a CAI making it leaner still, there is a much greater risk of detonation. Sincerely, Collins
