Factory Boost Gauge Accuracy

Hi all,
I have a stock '03 WRX wagon with the factory boost gauge.
Does anybody know if they can be considered accurate or not?
Mine peaks out at .085, which I calculate to be about 12.4 PSI.
Also, it does this in ALL gears (well, about .08 in 1st), though I have read that it is supposed to max out at approximately 9psi in 1st, 2nd and 13.5-14.5 in 3rd, 4th, 5th.
One possible issue is that when the engine is off, the needle sits at the bottom of the BROAD white line that marks '0'. I estimate that this line is about .01 thick. Perhaps my gauge is not properly 'zeroed'. That would still only put me at .09 or 13 psi.
Does anybody know anything about the factory gauge, in terms of either accuracy or precision?
Thanks,
Tom

i have one too. but it's on my 04. seems pretty accurate. i don't like that it uses mPA instead of PSI or regular KpA. oh well.. it looks cool hahaha! i'm actually thinking about changing the face of it... haha.. pretty rice. haa

If yours was installed before you bought the car, 3 year warranty applies. If not, you may still have parts warranty. Discuss this with your Subaru Service Dept.

The factory gauge on my MY03 WRX does the same thing. I think it's at least partly because I'm above sea level most of the time, and it's a mechanical gauge.
Next time I'm at the beach, I'll try to remember to see if it zeros.
If this is the reason, it ought to to sit noticeably below zero at high elevations. Has anyone seen this?
In terms of accuracy, the numbers agree very closely with my OBD-II scanner. When comparing the scanner's numbers to my visual observations of the gauge, the biggest source of error comes from me reading the gauge.
If I had to put a number to it's accuracy, I'd say it's good to within .5 psi or less.
