exhaust system question?

I have a 3" top secret turbo back catless jdm And I just put a stock axle back on the car ' I had to mod. out the stock axle back to fit the jdm pipeing' And now it feels like the car has alot of more torqe then with my wide open system why? Is this going to be bad for the car?

Miguel,

that's what happens when you have some increased pressure.

It's not going to ruin your car, but it is restricting flow with the stock muffler.

You sacrifice top end for the low end grunt.

Increased backpressure often feels like more torque. Think of a .5in tip on a 1 in garden hose: how does the water flow? Same idea with your exhaust. It's not unhealthy, it just limits your car's full performance capability.
What really makes strong torque with an exhaust is a steady, high-flowing column of exhaust gas. The engine has to have enough power to create this phenomenon, and the best exhaust for this is the widest possible before the exhaust gas column loses its density and steadiness.
Our turbo engines easily generate this sort of exhaust, even stock; that's why we do fine with large diameter exhausts that would make a Civic or Integ struggle to pick up.
Do I make sense? Probably not eh? Too much eggnog haha... this was covered in an old Sport Compact Car a few years ago.

I wanted to do the same setup (turboback, catless, stock axleback)
but if i have to mod the axleback to fit the catback now i'll have to think about it...

I have APS Mark 1 turbo-back. The dp and mid pipes are all 3", but the rear section is 2.5". This way you get to keep the torque and you get the top end as well. It is a "balanced" system. It makes compromises to achieve the best driveability.
