The less restriction between the exhaust port and the tailpipe always means more sound. It is the nature of the beast. Whatever aftermarket system you get will give more hp and more sound. The freer the flow, the more the go.

Prodrive axleback is one of the quietest. I'm not sure how much power you'll gain with it though. If you really want power gains you'll have to drop some cats and increase piping diameter. Although there are some "not too loud" options, all are louder than stock. You can do a search and come up with alot of info here.

only good ones are expensive ones. vishnu rules.

if you wanna get a good sound and save money, get the greddy... you prolly won't ever get pulled over.

Prodrive axleback, Cobb stage 1 reflash, Samco intercooler hoses, Kartboy shortshifter w/bushings. These will all make your car sound better or go faster legally.

Borla will have a nice growl but wont be loud. I had a system on my 01 Monte SS and it sounded. The APEXI N1 is a LOUD exhaust. I have the N1 with no cats on a white WRX and there is carbon all over the back of my car. I had to buy a Jun bumper plate to cover it up.

The Borla exhaust for the WRX is LOUD! I have it and no other exhaust mods, and it definetly has a deep rumble. It also pops occasionally, which I love. I like the exhaust a lot and wouldn't have it any other way, but if you want quiet, the Borla is not for you.
Thanks.
