oh, is that what you meant by the thread subject line of "exhaust". Next time, a more descriptive subject will liekly get you more responses...

Now, on to your question: I run the TXS turboback with thier RFL muffler. When I want something quieter, I actually put the stock muffler back on the car. If you're looking for a different sound than stock, I've been hearing good things about the borla hush.

The 'rumbling sound' is produced by the engine configuration, and particularly the headers. Different exhausts can change the pitch and tone of it, but it will always have that 'rumble.' I'm not a fan of catless street cars, because the power gain from eliminating it is not worth the risk of huge fines, nor is it kosher to turn your car into a gross polluter. As for the axlebacks, the Prodrive is a good design with s slightly restrictive diameter, and the STi is designed to be inexpensive and relatively quiet, nothing more. It's not worth getting if it didn't come on your car to begin with. Also, if you are concerned with having too loud of a car, both a catalytic converter and a resonator will help keep the volume down without drastically changing the sound. If you have seen teh video clip MexicanPizza posted up of his Vishnu exhaust, you will understand what I mean.

You can always get a greddy evo. It has a big tip (4.5 in) but the canister itself is hidden neatly into the wrx. It really doesn't look all bling bling and stuff.
