EJ20T from J-spec wrx

I bought an engine from a 1995 J-Spec rex, it is an ej20 and it has an automatic tranny. How does this engine get cooled? There is a black thing that has a "rap cap" on it, and the turbos piping hooks up there. Its where the normal IC usually is. I've attached pics, anybody have any information about the engine I got or where I can find it? I want to know how much horsepower and torque this engine makes, and if its a special edition.

any info appreciated

looks like an Liquid-to-Air intercooler

BoOm gets partial credit,

it does seem to be an air water intercooler, but it appears it's not from a WRX.

i have searched around and found that its most likely from a Subaru RS Liberty

No problem,

lots of threads about people actually looking for that system to replace their air to air intercooler. I would be checking on any other differences between the Legacy and WRX engine.

The motor that you have there, is it capable of handling a good amount of power?? do you know if it is an open, semi-closed or, fully closed deck. Since your saying that its an EJ20 im assuming that its probly the same as out motor?? any info about that motor that you know and wouldn't mind telling me would be nice. See i found a motor ressembling that motor very closely. I'm just curious?? thank you, mario

the only info that I know about is from the links in this thread, but the last link said the engine is capable of about 400 crank hp.

i was thinking of putting it in an old impreza ('93-'98) but I can't find any good candidates. You think it would be worth putting this into an SVX? The ****ty thing about the SVX is the weight and auto tranny though :S

Do you have the SVX already?? If so why not i didn't know there was a weight problem. But if you don't have any thing to put it in, put it in one of the older impreza's 2 dr preferably

yeah, i don't have an svx but they are like 3580 lbs. The Imprezas have such high resale for some reason, and the only two door ones I can find are the 2.5's, and they are expensive.

The best would be to find one with a blown engine, but I just can't seem to ever find one.

Yeah, older generation Impreza's are getting rare, which is probably why the resale value is high.

Here in hawaii (oahu), there has been only about a couple or so 2.5RS's for sale locally, and most of them were ~$15,000+

: / I wanted a GC8 before I got my WRX but I gave up on finding one.
