Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

EJ20 Build

Take a look at this block. The compression ratio is 9:1 as opposed to 8:1 and it has been described as being detonation PROOF!

A normal Subaru sleeve is around 1.5mm thick. The sleeves in this engine are 115mm thick! A 100mm bore leaves 7.5mm of cast iron in the cylinder wall which means you can have a 2.0L that is WAY stronger than a regular 2.0L. It is completely balanced and blueprinted. Lots of larger displacements can be accomodated, but I chose 2.0 because, well, that's what I wanted.

Magnus Motorsports makes the block. Speak to Marco if you want one too. http://www.magnusmotorsports.com/home.asp

At any rate, I need a set of MY02 USDM heads. Since I'm going to go with JUN 256 cams, aside from the casting, not much else is really going to be useful. Marco is rebuilding using 04 USDM head parts (shimless buckets ).

Should anyone have a line on the heads, please let me know?

I'm not sure because I'm doing new gears and the turbo hasn't been chosen, yet. I also expect to need bigger injectors than the STis and, of course, there will be a tune required.

I guess over $12K.

I suppose some guys will roll their eyes and with good reason because there is little reason in this. Except the engine will be built to real race standards and I've always wanted that. Blueprinted, balanced and 9000 RPS.

I can't resist it.

I've been looking at that same block.

How much is just the motor going to run you. PM me if you want.

The 115mm is the diameter of the entire sleeve. A 100mm bore leave 7.5 mm of sleeve material.

What comes with the $12k? I almost ready to start building but was thinking about going with a built usdm block and using a type c head. The complete type c with tranny and everything I need from the drivetrain is gonna be about $8k after that I'll have to sell my usdm complete setup to pick up any other parts that I'll need. It sounds like your going with what I kinda wanna do. keep us posted.

It's not done yet, so I'm not sure.

The 02 heads will fit up perfectly. Since all new parts will be used, shimless buckets and all, and the heads will be ported and polished, I'm confident it will work well.

I'm adding JUN cams, too.
