EJ Motor options
EJ Motor options
I didnt know what forum to put this in but, i was wondering what the options are for swaping heads, blocks, manifolds, etc, with different EJ motors. Like what are the benefits of swaping a 2.2 head onto a 2.0 block. Or why is the SOHC EJ25 better then the DOHC, is it because of its lower compresion? I am just looking into building the ultimate EJ of course not an N/A though. Oh yeah 6mt for the tranny.

Well most people got the 2.2L Legacy turbo motor and used their stock heads so that they could keep their orignal wiring harness. Then all they needed was a good management system. The EJ20 conversions started to become popular because so many WRX owners were wrecking their cars. Now that the Forester turbo is out and the Baja will share the same motor it looks like the turbo 2.5L motor will quickly become a popular swap especially considering the performance numbers that have been posted for the turbo Forester. Pick up a turbo 2.5L from a junkyard for $3K, install it yourself and pay another $1K for a shop to sort out the wiring so you can use the Forester ECU. Thats less then what a good turbo kit and management cost for a EJ25 not to mention have fewer issues in the long run.
