Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

It's normal to see your highest EGTs at highway cruising.

The uppipe doesn't really have anything to do with it. Ignition timing and air/fuel ratio determine it, along with engine load. EGTs are one of the reasons that the factory tune is rich. I would also remove the 3/16 mod. A reflash is a much safer way to go for picking up power.

If you are getting your reflash done locally, talk to them about what they think. Most tuners will give free retunes if you buy your replacement parts from them, or charge around $100 for remapping if you get the parts elsewhere. Also, if you're getting a reflash, there's really no reason to get a Utec, or vice versa.

You could still get a reflash and use Delta Dash with User Tune to upload new maps when you change mods. Again, many shops will give free retunes when you buy the parts through them. Other options include AccessPort and of course the Utec. My personal order of preference is EcuTek reflash, AccessPort, then Utec.

Fine if you want EGTs that are cooler than what's actually coming out of the ports!

I'm going to be running my EGT in the up-pipe too because my CES Racing up-pipe is pre bunged there for it already.

Hey mexicanpizza, do you really think the exhaust gases cool that much from the #3 port to the up-pipe? I don't, that is unless you have inadaquate heat shielding.
