will the stock exhaust bolt up to a aftermarket down pipe? Kind of a general question but I'm curious.

it will bolt up, but you will always have an exhaust leak.

 

wrong.

some aftermarket downpipes taper down to a 2.5" donut flange, which will bolt properly to a stock exhaust.

some aftermarket downpipes have a 3" flat flange which will not bolt up properly and will have a leak.

 

so wouldnt some exhaust wrap help that situation,up until you find another three inch mate?

wrap just goes around the exhaust to keep heat it

Just find out how big the aftermarket DP is. If its 3'', you'll needa a 3'' exhaust or else it wont seal well. Or you can getta 3'' exhaust as well. Stocks are 2.5'', so a 2.5'' DP will seal perfectly.
