Down Pipe Bolt Woes
Just installed a Turbo XS Exhaust on my '03 WRX sedan. When I was tightening the 3 studs/nuts and 2 bolts/nuts that hold the down pipe to the back of the turbo (I'll bet you can guess where this is going) one of the bolts/nuts at the top of the down pipe stripped. I can't get the nut back off the bolt and will have to cut it off. I've called two dealerships; neither had the bolts/nuts in stock nor could they tell me what the dimensions are on the bolts/nuts at the top of the turbo/ downpipe.
Here's my question: Anyone know what the dimensions (length, pitch, diameter, & bolt grade) )of the bolts/nuts are? Or, do you know where I could go to look them up on the net? Thanks!

i broke two bolts tooo.... so i went out and got the right nuts to fit on the bolts that were still sticking out of the housing and used em, as far as size im not sure, bring one to autozone or wherever and match em up
ive had no leaks yet, but i am getting it fixed with the right bolts

I'm not sure of the exact size, but I know that the rest of the stock exhaust has at least one or two more of the exact same nuts and bolts holding it on. If you're just planning on trashing your stock pipe you could salvage the nuts & bolts. I had a similar problem with a stripped nut and just replaced it with one from the stock exhaust. Good luck.
at least you stripped the stud only. my buddy stripped the thread on the turbo when i was installing the uppipe. i brought it to the dealer to fix, nope cant work. only way is for them to make new threads or replace the turbo. so im running on 4 studs instead of 5. so far im not leaking.
well good luck with that.

what happened with me, is the top of the bolt just spun right off the bolt, bgreaking and leaving the peg in the turbo housing
so far im fine though
im sure someone will chime in and tell me im a jackassfor running like this

they have special tools called a nut extractor. kinda looks like a socket for a 3/8" drive ratchet. pretty sure you can get them at home depot, ace hardware. maybe autozone and pep boys.
