not true. u can add a few psi safely. now if u crank it up to like 16 or 17 ur gunna have to tune with the ecu
I have all my cats intact, with no muffler and resonator (straight 3" pipe catback). I have the boost controller set to 16.5psi and have had absolutely no problems. I have been using Sunoco Ultra 94, just to be safe.
But I do agree that you can use the MBC without any further mods.
As for my Do's and Dont's:
Do : run a 3" catback, no muffler. You'll get an extra psi of boost, and it sounds like Peter Solberg himself flying down the street
Dont: rice it up. Nuff said. Also, don't drop the car just for the "look".

don't put an exhaust with an excessively large tip on a WRX.
don't replace your rear sway bar withou replacing the endlinks too, the added stress can crack or break the stock plastic links.
don't whine if you do something stupid, and the car blows the motor/tranny/turbo.
do e-brake turns -- responsibly.
do let your canine companion hang his/her head out the window while ddriving fast.
do track days, autox, rallyx and legal drags.

Not everyone gets 93-94 octane. I get it in CT. But some places only get 91. MBC set at 17psi in central California in the summer = melted piston. Same psi in CT during summer on 94 octane = on problem. I alway make mods on the safe side because I drive all over.

Do: replace the stock RE-92's with something stickier if you track or auto-x, or just want sticky tires
Do: replace your uppipe. Faster spool-up, better performance, one less cat that is hard to see
Do: your research before buying parts
Do: take your car to the drag-strip and auto-x at least once
Don't: put yourself too far in debt to mod your car

Don't kick the side of your car just because it makes you feel better
Don't wash your car in the sun...unless you like water spots
Tell your WRX that you are proud of 'em every once in a while...it will make it run better
Don't pull over to the center of the freeway with a highway patrol behind you
