Custom exhaust pipe

I couldn't find an answer through my search, but please, link me a thread that I might've missed. If not, please consider me a knowledgeable answer.

I have a Helix downpipe (catless) and I would like to get a custom made 3" exhaust pipe to replace the resonator and mate it to an oval tip Prodrive muffler to complete a less restrictive CBE. The reason I want this is I don't want any canon shaped catback or anything that will get the attention of the authorities, and yet, yield a better performance and sound. I really don't want to drop $500+ for a pipe and a muffler.

Is this a possiblity at all?

A good shop can do this. They can either use mandrel-bending equipment or bend tubing using conventional means since mild bends do not cause severe crimping. For sharper bends, they can use pre-bent sections and weld the pieces together. I've seen a guy make his own headers for a V-8 using this method. Just keep sharp, abrupt bends to a minimum.

Are you still running the third (mid-pipe) cat? If you are having a custom 3" exhaust made, consider that flanges added to the exhaust will make removal easier, otherwise the car may have to be put on a lift to remove it. Of course, more flanges increases the likelihood of an exhaust leak...

Completely catless. Ran a search for Prodrive axle back and found out it's only "2.5. Might be better to have 2.5" pipe to mate with it.

Thanks for the responds!
