Coolant temp gauge

Can anyone give me some sugestions on where to tap the temperature sender? It's an autometer gauge into an 02 WRX. I have seen on scoobymods, a guy spliced into his upper radiator hose. I'm not sure if this is such a good idea.

Any comments or suggestions?

I think most people tap their temp sensor in the upper radiator hose. Greddy and other companies make a tapping kit that makes it look really nice and clean.

I'm sure that you can go to your local shop to order the piece from Greddy. I think it comes in 3 different colors too.

Would a galvanized pipe like the one used in the scoobymods link rust after time? It seems that the finish on the metal could chip off, rust, and clog up the cooling system. Would brass or a non-galvanized pipe be a better alternative?

I bought one of those plastic hose connectors, but I think that it would melt so metal would be my choice.
