"Injen Research & Development" is not an independent test lab. Chart doesn't even state what type of vehicle was being tested, nor which dynamometer was being used for testing. Injen sells intakes - what do you expect their dyno charts to say?

Okay, this might be a n00b question, but what about K&N's filter systems? I don't think they're good for our MAFS because they use oiled filters and what-not, but I was reading the latest Road and Track issue and they are advertising that the 2005 WRX STi gains 12 horsepower to the wheels, GUARANTEED. So are the intake systems good for STi's and not WRX's?? Any thoughts on this? Here's a web page worth checking out concerning this...

Remove "snorkus" and gasket, install Summit racing 3" velocity stack($25) in "snorkus" hole, reset ECU,drive car with big smile.

I had a Perrin Short Ram Intake....it didn't do much for performance....except make a lot of noise....plus it made the engine compartment a little dirty

So, Donkey!
Did you feel any performance gain?

Also, did it make the intake hella loud?

Its quite loud but has a bit of a different tone than an intake. It spools much faster and the ECU reset is a must with this.Top end is very nice and on the highway throttle responce in 5th is very cool.I have actually upgraded to a 4" turbo bellmouth from www.velocityofsound.com in place if the 3" velocity stack. At this point you have a huge velocity stack feeding the smaller stock one inside the oem intake while still retaining the factory calibration and air straightning by using the stock box.Very interesting about the CEL i got the minute i put the stack in.It had to do with the air temp and MAF voltage.Reset ECU and not one since.Tons of others have done this mod with the CEL happening if they don't reset the ECU,but once reset it never comes back.I guess that would be a sign that something is happening and it must be good because the ECU likes it after a reset. The people that do reset right after install before starting the car never see a CEL.

im confused...how does the velocity stack in the fender well create any more power? does it create a vacuum of some sort that would be more beneficial than just removing the snorkel and injesting air from the fender?

it works by smoothing the flow of intake air, decreasing the turbulence and pressure drop accociated with that restriction to flow.
