Cobb tuning dp

all right guys,

i've finally decided to go to stage 2. Due to budget constraints, here is what i am thinking:

1.) cobb tuning dp, catted for emmisions.
2.) Helix flex uppipe
3.) Stock catback, until more $.
4.) AccessPort.
5.) New gaskets.

See anything missing ?
Just running it by you guys. Tell me what you think. Thanks

Im not positive but I think you need a full turbo back exhaust. Im pretty sure Cobbs website tells you what mods you need to go stage 2.

D/P is all

For the Cobb Stage 2, the minimum requirements are:
Stage 2 reflash
Down-Pipe

Of course it would be a good idea to get rid of that stock muffler. Up-pipe is supposed to be a good mod too.

Let me know how it runs.. I have been researching the same path. I do not think you will have any problems. There are some threads on wrxforum.com that has some info on going stage2 with only a downpipe.

Good luck!

Talking

Cool... keep us in the loop with the results!

I'm thinking about ordering the Cobb DP and keeping the stock cat back section of the exhaust... probably will get a Stromung 3'' once I get the money.

AccessPort is on order... Can't wait until Mid-April to get it!!!

cobb downpipe is good product, but imo overpriced...

u can get used bellmouth d/p's for ~ 225 ish and they will give u the same power as that cobb, but if your sold on it go for it...

Hey Ben,

I'd definitely like to hear your impressions of your setup once it is running. I'm leaning towards something very similar:

1) Cobb downpipe with cat.
2) APS flex uppipe.
3) Stock catback.
4) Prodrive (WR Sport) axle-back.
5) AccessPort.

Brent.

thanks for the input guys,

i looked at the aps uppipe too.
it was the price of the helix that got me. i got the uppipe, full gasket set, and it was shipped free for $200. not bad i'd say. can't wait till it comes. cobbs on backorder for about 4-6 weeks.
cheers

buy the HELIX DP instead. Dirt cheap and excellent build quality.

About COBB Stage 2 w/just an UP/DP - My buddy has the same settup, COBB advised him to get the Stage 2. He's boosting a little over 15.0 PSI (the ECU is still learning however).

COBB Stage 2s are suppose to be boosting at 15.8 at maximum efficiency

Mastros,

A quick breakdown:

UPIPE - pipe connecting exhaust headers to turbo. The stock uppipe has a catylitic converter in it (therefore impeding airflow). Aftermarket uppipes eliminate the catyltic converter, which improves exhaust flow to the turbo (reduces turbo lag)

NOTE: You CAN pass smog(even in CA) w/out the UPpipe CAT. You probably won't pass smog w/out the DOWNpipe/MIDpipe cats.

DOWNPIPE Exhaust piece immediately after the turbo. The stock downpipe(and midpipe) have 1 catylitic converter each. Aftermarket downpipes eliminate either 1 or both CATs (depending on the aftermarket downpipe) Also, note that the stock DownPipe blocks off the waste-gate exhaust of the turbo. Aftermarket downpipes (excluding the HKS downpipe) are either Bellmouth or DivorcedWastegate designed (both are designed to expell wastegate exhaust). Downpipes are usually 3" as opposed to the stock pieces which are 2.5" i believe.

TURBOBACK EXHAUST all the exhaust components from the turbo on back (Downpipe + a catback would constitute as a full turbo-back.

As far as the Helix DP goes... I'd love to get it. Good quality, inexpensive, and good power gains. But it doesn't have a cat.

I'm not sure if I'd want to go catless. I'd feel a little guilty about the added pollution, and I don't think my girlfriend would appreciate the smell very much.

you were a bit vague!

power output for a full catless TBE is 25 HP at the wheels + 10 more HP for the uppipe (supposedly)
