CEL with a short ram...

I just installed a short ram intake on my 04 Rex and after 45 miles or so the CEL comes on. I reset the code by removing the negative battery terminal from the battery and waiting 5 or 10 minutes then reattaching the cable end... them 45 miles later the CEL comes back.. Everything is attached properly there is no gaps in the sensor housing no cracks in the sensor. The sensor is pluged in tightly...Running out of idea becides remaping the ECU...which I dont want to do that until my warente is over.

Check the code. An intake will do next to nothing for you. Sell it and buy a turboback exhaust, or a reflash, nobody can tell you have a reflash.

How much does it cost to get reflashed?
Where can I get it done since this is my daily driver.

I'm not sure about wi. Try to look at where mustang dyno has a dyno near you and or the ecutex webaite, those are your best bets.

OK cool thanks...

So in your opinion what is the best intake for my application or just stick with the stock air box until one comes around.

Unfortunately I am not new to the import world, or to the hot rodding of vehicles but this is the first OBD2 vehicle that I own and also work on. So I am just curious on what will error out and what will not. What would be better part over another sort of thing.

Go to autozone and get the code(s) scanned....post them....EXACTLY, by number and we can help....you may have a leak or the element is over oiled and your MAF got slimed and needs cleaned.

Uncle Scotty, I will do that on my next day off... which happens to be only the weekends.
Also I was told that I could buy the reader and something else to reset the codes from AutoZone... is this true? I never had to do this before.

...you can buy a code reader and scan/clear it yourself....but we need the codes which will be in the 'Pxxx' format to know what to do for you.

You can buy a simple pocket scanner for under 80 bucks out the door, wich will read and reset codes.

Sounds like the problem is the intake. Take it off, reset your ecu and tell us if it comes back.
