CEL Code 1507

new to the board...
2002 WRX stock except cold air intake with HKS filter and ground kit installed around 25,000 miles. Everything was running great.
then: CEL code 1507 about 90,000 miles.
car will not idle... varies between 1200 and 2500 rpm (normal idle is 500-750rpm?)
Edit: ALSO... cutoff at ~5300rpm in first gear.
replaced idle position sensor... no change.
Replaced spark plugs, switched to K&N air filter, fuel filter is next on the list...
Still have the CEL code 1507 and idle problem
any ideas?

Clean out the carbon from the intake manifold. Buy a carbon busting product and clean behind the throttle plate, inside the idle control valve, pcv valve and any where else you can reach. I have also heard of possible ground issues causing this code. Check you engine grounds and wire harness grounds.
I had different CEL, but same problem. It ended up being the Idle Control Valve on top of the throttle body. Expensive part ~ $300, but fixed the problem and CEL immediately. I got mine from Mastro Subaru (http://mastrowrx.com) Some people have had luck cleaning theirs, but that didn't work for me. Part 22650 in the attachment.
