catback exhaust, will it mess up my engine?
I have just put on an HKS carbon TI Exhaust, and I was wondering if it will hurt my engine in the long run? Will I notice any changes in driveability on 93 octane, and should I do an ECU reflash. Will this minor mod of a 3 ionch exhaust hurt the cars breathing or driveability or longevity? Just a paranoid question.

catback worries
Thanks guys, I appreciate your help! I have noticed some changes in driveability, the turbo begins spooling around 2500 rpm, but doesn't pull hard untill normal 4000, throttle response at low rpms is a little more mushy, and the power band seems to have shifted upward. pulls strong to redline, went into redline but didn't hit the fuel cut. No need to short shift anymore to stay in sweet spot. is it normal to see a fuel usage increase also? I drive very tame except for an occaisonal hard pull. are these things normal with a 3 inch catback only? It was cold last nigh, and boy did the car drive great! Thanks for responding!
I have a mildly stupid question to add...I just installed the HKS hiper cat back, if I add a downpipe, does that make it a turbo back exhaust? I'm asking because most companies charge about $1000 for a full turbo back exhaust. My catback cost less than $600 and the most expensive downpipe I've seen is a little over $300 so I dont see what warrants the $1000 price tag unless a turbo back exhaust includes an uppipe also.

Tad, people mix and match exhuadst components all the time. The only advice I would give about that would be to keep an linear size like 3inch. or 2.5inch. throughout your turboback system IMO.
I have an Stromung downpipe, and just had the rest fabricated at an exhuast shop in 2.5inch piping to an cheap straight through muffler, saved some money .

I have a 3 inch HKS carbon ti, but am having second thoughts on the 3 inch size. do you think 2.5 is better for only minor modded turbo cars, and why? My opinion on seat of the pants driving is good top en gains, not too much loss on botom, but some. What are your thoughts on this?

Hey there!! I wanted to try and clear up your turbo back question. When you buy a turbo back exhaust you get a downpipe, racepipe or catpipe, midpipe, and the muffler section!! So you having the cat back is just that, it runs from the catpipe section back...the downpipe would be an additive but you would still be missing the high flow cat or straight racepipe with no cat. Look at the pic of the TXS Turbo back in this link and you will see the 4 sections of the system. I hope this helps you understand the pricing and all!!

IF anyone is looking for the 2.5in exhausts or components then I can get the Stromung, which I think one of you has so you know that it is a quality product!! If you want something of theirs then please contact me and I will see what I can do for you!!
Thanks,
Brian
