you need three things

air

fuel

spark


you can throw air out right away because its pretty easy to assume your getting that

fuel the easiest way is to put teh car in the on position and pull the fuel line from the fuel filter. if you have fuel presure its gonna spray fuel every where so be careful about teh eyes.
to check the fuel after that is pretty hard. change the fuel filter it might be clogged if there is no pressure after it.

spark this one is hard to check. you need some one to turn the key while you look at the plug to see if its sparking. have the plug rest against teh valve cover and see if tehy all spark
