Unhappy Can't Start My Ride

Hello everyone. Well here the deal with my ride. On Sunday a week ago I had installed an Apexi AVC-R Boost Controller. Everything ran great when I took it for a test drive to let it learn my cars settings. Ran great, except that the boost would not stablize. It kept over boosting. It got it back to my house, shut the car off after letting the turbo cool of course. I went back to double check and make sure my Vacum lines were all on correctly and secure as well as checking all the wiring was connected. Tried to start it, won't light off.

I've checked all the fuses pertaining to ignition, I check the fuel preasure, changed the fuel pump because I thought that wasn't working. I've even changed the spark plugs. I used a code scanner and no codes what so ever. My compression is good! I don't know what else to try to get my car started! I even removed the boost controller.... still nothing. I need some ideas. Can someone please help? I need to get my car up, cause right now it's the only mode of transpatation I have being hadicapped and all. I'll even pay someone to come and take a look at my car. Oh! By the way I have a 02 WRX 2.0 thanks

Did you put the factory boost solenoid/controller back on?

Yes. It still wouldn't turnover or ignite.

Angry

You know.... I thought coming to the forums with this problem I'm having I would get some pretty good ideas about what I should do! I've had 36 hits on this thread and only only one person had something to say, that was a question I might add!

You mean to tell me that noone has any advise as to what I can do to get my car running? Writing this thread was a waist of time. Call me what U want, but I just exspected a better response. Thanks for nothing my fellow I-Club members!

Talking like that will not get you any better results.

You probably have more views because maybe people look at the thread to see what the problem is, and if there was a solution....thats always good info to have even if you are not currently having an issue. Secondly, you probably dont have any responses because nobody (that has looked at this thread) has had that problem and cant offer any usefull info. The one question that was asked was a legit question that could have been a problem, unfortuneatly it wasnt, therefore didnt solve your issue.

If this is a huge problem for you (not having a mode of transportation) then maybe instead of WAITING for a response on I-club, you should just sack up and actively call a dealership, local Subaru Mechanic, or some other place to look at your car, and have AAA tow it to the shop if need be.

Now for my ideas.....have you checked the battery to make sure its not dead, and the battery leads are connected to the correct poles on the battery? Have you tried Jump starting your car? Do other electrical accessories work, but the car just wont start? If you want a detailed response, you need to give all the details.

Good luck, and I hope you figure it out.

What do you mean by the car won't start?

Does it crank? Does it start and stutter? Or is it just dead when you turn the key?

From the limited information in your post, and the solutions you've already tried, I would say it is an electrical issue having something to do with your wiring of the AVCR or a blown fuse.

First of all, as I said earlier in the thread I am handicapped. I can't just get in another car and go like you and others that can walk. I could get it towed but how would I get myself to the dealership. I don't have any friends up here in Menifee near to get with me to do that. I'm lucky it had this problem at my house and not somewhere else. But that's besides the point. I have done everything I think I could have done. Yes it will crank, but no ignition. The fuses or all intacted, I've even changed the fuel pump and fuel filter. I bought al four new ignition coils online installed those, still no ignition. Changed spark plugs even went back to stock on everything but the exhaust and suspension.

I don't know what to go for next besides changing my ECM out. So Icame hear expecting some better ideas. I figured with as popular as this site is, someone would have ran into this problem. But I was wrong. It's just frustrating! I din't mean to lash out to my fellow I-Clubers, just know what to do try.

Well then it definitely sounds like something electrical. Does the fuel pump fire when you turn the key forward? Leave the cover off the hatch where you installed the fuel pump and turn the key to the "on" position. Do you hear the whine of the pump? If not, you're not getting fuel. Since you've changed the pump out I would suspect a wiring issue from your AVCR. You may have nicked or pulled out a wire that was adjacent to where you tied in your AVCR or maybe one of the wires from your install is not correct.

If the fuel pump does fire then it's possible that your ignition wiring is not correct.

Again, since you checked everything mechanical, I would highly recommend re-checking your wiring job.

The crank sensor tells the ignition system when to fire because it tells the computer when each cylinder is at top dead center.

Changed the Crank Sensor, didn't work. What about the iginition switch? Where in the hell it? I can't seem to find it and the Shop manual doesn't even talk about it or show you where it is! Yet I found a part # for it . So I ordered a one just incase. But I need to know where it is on the car! Please someone let me know if they do. Thanks

I checked and rechecked all the wiring. I took the AVC-R completely out and left it stock. Still will not firing off. But like I said I will try changing the Iginition switch next.

Does Anytone know where the Ignition Switch is? I can't find it. The shop manual doesn't show where it is and doesn't even talk about it.

Changed the igintion switch. No go. Any more Ideas. I'll say the reason why I won't take it to the Dealership. I just had a big run in a few months back with the engine swap they did and I don't trust dealerships. But that will be my last consideration if I can't figure out. So throw me some more ideas.
