Can somebody help me in here?
Hey fellas,
Nobody will answer this in the Drag Racing Forum please help. I've had my 02 WRX for bout 10 months now and I love it I have a HKS up-pipe and downpipe, vibrant 3" catback exhaust, STi RA gearset, Exedy lightweight flywheel, and Spec stage 2 racing clutch with a Kartboy short shifter and that's about it in the way of things that would effect my dragging everything else is just cosmetic and gauges. I had my first runs ever dragging at Orlando Speed World Dragway lastnight. I only got two runs cause it got pretty crowded pretty quickly and this was my best time which was my second run
R/T ... 1.348
60' ... 2.471
330 .. 6.453
1/8 ... 9.739
MPH .. 76.08
1000 ..12.580
1/4 ... 14.947
MPH .. 95.22
So my question is how far off am I from what I should have run or am capable of running. I know my reaction time was horrible and my 60' sucked *** too but like I said it was my first two runs ever. So let me know fellas thanks.
Mike

Hmm.. 95mph at the end is very good. I'm not quite the drag racer but my best run was done with a crap launch from about 3k.. my clutch cooked when my car jumped to 6k for like 3 secs straight, lol.
Well that resulted in a 14.7 @ 93mph.
My car was a bit less modded then yours though, stock trans, up/down/3" back.

My friend is a good drag racer with his WRX and he ran a 13.5 @ 98 mph. But your ET and trap have a lot to do with elevation and weather conditions too.
BTW - I know your pain on the launching part. I too have the RA gears, Exedy flywheel and ACT clutch and it's hard to get 'er goin correctly. I'm no pro dragger so my best time is with a 60' of 2.07 and ran a 13.101 @ 110

Your light weight flywheel will make it difficult for you got get good launches, but if you get it sorted out you should be able to get 60' times down in the 1.9 - high 1.7 range.
For every .1 of a second off your 60' time of 2.4 you'll make up about .2 on the ET.
You should be capable of at least 97 mph and mid 13's with practice.
Don't feel bad my first run on a stock 2002 was a 15.2 ET, I've run a 13.239 at 102.85 here at 5800 ft altitude on the stock turbo, but I've also lightened the car a few hundred pounds.
It just takes practice !
Oh spend some time experimenting with tire pressures. Low tire pressures will kill your trap speed. I've had best luck above 36 psi.
