Is buying a used access port safe?

I was just wondering if i should bother spending 700 bucks, rather then 300 bucks. alot of people have told me that it's a little sketchy if the AP is used. They have to go through the process of "divorcing" it. Does anyone know if it's safe to buy a used AP? Thanks

nothing wrong with buying a used accessport as long as it is unmarried from the car. only takes 15 min. If anything just install it right there and see if it works. Other than that i think everything should be good, just make sure its unmarried.

yeah, buy local-ish so that you can meet up and make sure it works prior to buying it. A lot of people will install it on their car and then turn around and sell it for as much as they bought it for. They get a free tune, and the next person gets a useless AP.
