BOV question
Ok this might have been asked before or not. Installing a BOV on a stock WRX, will this cause oil leak? Some guy at vividracing forum told me not to install BOV atleast until Stage 2 upgrades.
Is there any known problems like this?

It won't cause an oil leak, sure you will get some oil residue in the bov and IC but that's normal (to an extent). BOVs aren't needed unless you're running hot modifications that put down serious numbers and boost. the OEM recirc BOV is good to 300+ hp and a significant amount of boost. Bovs are used just for noise otherwise and wont really hurt anything.
Do a search on "BOV" and you'll get all kinds of good info.

realize though, that there isn't a huge difference in functionality between a recirc, 50/50, and 100% vented bov on this car.
what i've experienced is this...
on my car with a bone stock exhaust the stock bpv was the way to go. the bov would flutter now and then and couldn't cope with quickly modulating the throttle.
after i installed my full exhaust (up, down, catback, 3" from turbo back) i tried my hks sseq, a forge 100% atmos, and the stock bpv. what i found was the exact opposite of before, with one slightly interesting problem... my forge bov leaked at -2psi-ish. every time i hit that pressure it would pull the plunger out of the way and vent. using the included spacers helped alleviate this problem mostly, which was good for a time.
the hks with the full exhaust really shined. no hesitation to vent, no stumbling (which was never a problem for ME), and it vented beautifully. the stock bpv seemed to suffer the same problems my old stock exhaust gave the hks bov. it just didn't feel as smooth anymore.
a bov WILL spew oil all over your engine bay.... if you blow a seal in your turbo
a bov won't cause fatal breakdown of your motor so don't fret about that.
if you never plan to modify your exhaust I think i'd recomment going with a bov. the 50/50 valve is probably a better choice in this instance.
