bov or no bov

im having a vf34 setup soon.. and i was wondering if my stock recirculation valve can handle all of the boost pressure... if my stock one can handle it i wont buy and aftermarket bov.. but if i do need to.. what kind of aftermarket bov should i get??

What else are you having done?

I have VF-34, STi pink injectors, Fuel pump, Reflashed Rom, and still run stock BOV and intercooler.
Next and last upgrade would be STI intercooler, but the BOV isn't something that you'll need.

I think the stock BPV can hold up to 21-21 PSI actually, my peak PSI (thanks to my defi boost gauge ) is something like 18.3 and I didnt hear/feel any kind of leaking

mine 'leaked' (moreso blewby) on the dyno during tuning....

how you tell when the stocker fails is when boost is on target but MAF voltage does not go up as boost increases...my stock bpv failed at ~19psi...previously tuned at ~18psi w/o issues but once tuned above that, the MAF voltage would not go up....crushed the cap to get thru tuning, then replaced it with a APS BPV...no problems since..

Gruppe-s is building the EJ207 shortblock & Crucial has the v8 heads, their getting a P&P & 3 angle valve job along with Helix 264 cams & Helix valvetrain along w/ +1mm over valve....it should be fun...

if you want to be lame and have your car make "that noise" get the BOV....if you want to do whats good for your car, get a BPV (recirculation).
