hey 04 cali rex what kind of intake did u have?? and he obviously wants a bov if he bought one but unfortunately i can't answer the question so i'm sure any help would be appreciated instead of hating. i'm sure he knows it's purpose and that there aren't any performance gains, he wants to hear it and that's just his opinion. hey, i'd be pissed if something i payed for wasn't functioning the way i expected n i would come here for help too.

If you want a louder sound from your bov you need the silver fin which i believe is the loudest. Silver>Gold>Purple noise wise.
yea the silver one is the one i have. standard is the silver one i believe. I don't think it's my intake. i still have stock intake. I think what it is, is that one of the tubes that my BOV connects to has a leak or isn't too tight. and so therefore air is getting in.

when i took the purple fin out and put the stock silver one back in and assembled the BOV all over again, i tightened things up realllll tight this time. (not the bolts) just as far as the clamps go and everything. I don't know what i did but the whistling sound is gone! sorta...

the only time the whistling sound comes back is if i'm in really high RPM's like around 4.5-5.0 rpm.

do u still get full boost?

if a vacuum line is broken as u stated, u wont hit full boost.

Thanks man, glad to know at least a few people understand. Thats exactly why i posted the thread, i wanted help from people that would know but instead, 90% of the replys i got were simply saying "go back to stock".
I know there's no gains from a BOV. Just wanna fix what i paid for. thanks for having my back.

i'm not quite sure. it sorta of seems as if my car boosts alot stronger ever since i "fixed" it. however, i know i'm not getting the full boost. also, i don't have a boost guage installed yet so i wouldn't know if i'm losing boost or not.

broken isn't the word i would use, i'm still not 100% sure what is causing it. it's 50 times better though then what it was before. before everytime i'd hit over 2 RPM the whistling would start.

do a vacuum leak test... most shops will have it, very easy to do, it only applies like 3 psi to the system and if smoke comes out of an area at 3psi, ur gunna have a huge issue at full boost.

make sure ur vacuum lines are tight and non cracked.
it doesn't sound like ur BOV is the issue, but u can use ur stock BPV to see if the BOV is the problem. go back to stock to find the issue, its process of elimination

like i stated above, use ur oem BPV as a starting point and see if the sound is still there. if the wistling is still there then its not the BOV and start moving onto vacuum lines
