Installed it today and love it. For those of you that've heard the magnaflow at idle it sounds very similar...very deep boxer rumble but just a tad bit quieter. At WOT and average hwy speeds there's hardly any cabin noise at all. It's very wife, gf and baby sleeping in the back seat friendly.
Like any other 3" piping exhaust there's some gain in high end and little loss of low end torque but the loss of low end torque is very hard to tell over my other TXS exhaust.
As for the install the bracket that fits over the stock donut gasket can be a PITA because of body position (with two ramps and two jack stands) and because of the small bolts. Had the bolts been another 1/4" longer it would have been a lot smoother.
My questions for those that have installed it are:
1) how tight did you tighten the two bolts on the donut gasket bracket? until tight and the bracket started to bend a tad? There weren't any instructions on it from Borla
2) Did you use the existing hangers with those black securing clips? Those things don't look very trustworthy to me IMHO. Did you use something else instead of those? Lastly, would kartboy hangers be better for this problem...would i still need those black clips or would the stiffness of the kartboy hangers be good enough?
Thanks, Eric

Lucky bastard!!! I have mine, but not putting it on till wed...well actually gonna practice installing it on sun so I can get my install time down so I can get it dynoed along with the stock muffler on Wed the 10th within a hour. I think I can do it.... As for the doughnut gasket I have the torque specs, but I'll have to look them up at work tommorrow since that's were I left the tech manuals. I'll see how good the scanner is working tommrow and I'll try and scan you the pages for the exhaust assembly.
For the dyno run I'm just gonna use the stock hangers, but the next day I'm gonna switch out to the kartboy exhaust hangers that I just ordered today, I've read that a lot of ppl recommend them.
Stay tuned for dyno results next week on this system...
Jason

After a week of running, I warmed up the car, got underneath and put my hand around the flange and didn't feel (or hear) any leaks. Don't overdo it - you can always tighten it up a little more. I think that donut and spring-loaded bolts allow necessary movement due to engine movement when running.
EDIT: I do use blue Loctite on the exhaust fasteners. The factory doesn't specify its use but I don't like the idea of the nuts dropping off when I'm driving.

I ended up just tightening it up with a wrench. That donut seals pretty well.

hmmmm
a question gents,
If you have an aftermarket downpipe that has a flat flange, would you need to grind off or somehow modifiy the end of the Borla so that it ends with a flat flange as well?
thanks

Are you talking about the Borla Hush systm Alan? According to the instructions you don't use the factory bolts w/springs. It comes with it's own hardware.

EDIT: If your Borla-supplied hardware does not use springs at all, then I have no idea what to torque the bolts to.
I used the Kartboy hangers (urethane bushings) to replace the stock soft rubber hangers from day one. I had a lot more trouble hooking the hanger just ahead of the muffler on my Strömung catback. This was the one thing that took the greatest amount of time for the install on my car. The Kartboys are much stiffer than the stock rubber so they limit movement quite a bit. I'm still not completely satisfied with the fitment of the Strömung but will wait until I get my downpipe before I take the car over to S² for some of their welding expertise.
