i have a 2002 wrx with turbo back exaust. my problem is that im getting boost spikes. ill be driving through the gears and when i hit full boost it wont stay there it will go past stock boost then drop to like half boost all while under WOT. that and in first gear when i punch it i get to like 5500 rpm and the boost will cut almost all the way and if i stay on the gas i hear a popping noise that sounds like the wastegate.....so what could be wrong or what should i look for in hunting down this issue thanks for the help

 

it very well may be the waste gate. the springs may have gained or lost tension, depending on which kind you have. if you have an mbc, look there too
