boost gauges
new to the forum. dont know exactly where this should be posted.
there is a factory optioned boost gauge that mounts on the steering column.
are all wrx's pre-wired.plumbed to take that option? (ie. is the vac/pressure line and power wire for the light already under the dash?)
might be a dumb question, but is boost on the wrx measured electronically, mechanically? im looking to mount an aftermarket boost gauge on the column.
suggestions for gauges?
thanks again.

No. The cars are not pre-wired for the factory boost gauge. Instead you still have to run vacuume line from the gauge through the firewall to the BOV. As for power, the factory gauge has a set of wires that you have to run, but plug-in nicely to a harness built in to the stereo. Tha factory gauge is mechanical, I believe. Hope that helps.

That is exactly right. I installed mine not too long ago. It's really easy. One word of advice if you install the boost gauge yourself is to remove the windshield washer fluid tank. It's makes it soooooo much easier to get to the hole in the firewall to run the hose.
Here's a link to the instructions for the factory boost gauge. It should help show you what's involved:
