Blow Awful Valve

hey now...i just put a turboXs type H BOV on my '03 rex and i have been having some problems with it. so far i have not found a definitive answer from anyone. basically, i only get a clean, normal sounding vent when i completely open up the throttle and then release it. but even this sounds cut short and weak. if i dont rev to about 5 or 6K with my foot through the floor, it just sputters when i release the pedal. sometimes, however, it will function as it is supposed to, although rarely. i tried varying shifting and have not been able to pinpoint any one proper (or improper) method. people have recommended pre-loading the spring and oiling the chamber, but before i get into the troubleshooting, i just want to know if this is normal. so basically:
1) do all BOVs perform this way? (i was under the
impression that rather than sputtering, the vent would just
be quieter)
2) if my BOV is messed up, is this bad for the turbo? ( i am
afraid that hot gasses are not entirely escaping the
intercooler)
3) if oiling the chamber is the way to go, which type of oil is
suggested?
thanks for any help. the BOV has been on for about a week now and i can't get it out of my mind.

I have this problem with my RFL. Nathan from TXS said that its because I don't have enough pressure differential on the piston. I guess this means that the BOV is made for higher boost cars. I thought this was retarded, because mine works fine for about ten minutes when the car is still cold. I've tried oil/grease, and haven't had any luck.
Out of curiousity, do you have the dealer boost guage installed?

no doood, i don't have the factory boost gauge, or any boost gauge for that matter. i didnt have a choice for any options, i had to buy it as it was from the dealer. i have heard of other people having problems with their TXS BOVs but have never actually talked to any of them. my friend has the same BOV i have on his '02 rex and has no problems with it. when i called TXS i got the same "more boost...blah blah...throttle...its fine" response - but i didnt feel all that satisfied. it is pretty gay if their BOV doesnt work in stock boost set-ups. i'll try pre-loading the spring again and see what happens this time. i'm gonna take it off tho when i get a chance. maybe save it till i kick up the boost...glad i wasted a car payment on a metal paperweight...
by the way, do u find it weak that 52 people viewed this thread and only we two "junior members" actually figured out how to use the keyboard????? kinda shocking
