Bigger Hood scoop. Does it matter?

This may be a newbie question but i have to know. Im planning on getting a new top mount and ive heard a lot of mixed opinions about the regular WRX hood scoop vs. the STI scoop. Now if i were to upgrade top mounts would the STI scoop be nccessary? I love the way my regular scoop looks and if i could keep it i would be happy about it. Just curious if anyone knows the deal.

If you're getting a larger TMIC you'll want to get a larger scoop for more efficient air flow. Most folks who upgrade usually go this route as they go hand in hand.

Car Info: No car right now....sob.
Think about it...larger intercooler mass = more room that it can suck air in = ineffeciently used space with a stock hoodscoop. It shouldn't be a massive difference though.
