Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Which is the better deal?

vishnu 321 cat-less up-pipe- $80
OR
catless sti uppipe- $70

assuming all things equal (mileage, wear, etc.) which one would be better. yeah, i know it's only a $10 difference. I'm thinking STI uppipe only b/c it's cheaper, but I need a second opinion. I know I could do a search but I'm at work and have to be...working...riiight.

If it matters, my current set up is TXS stealthback (catless) to an STI axelback.

TIA,

Ryan

you're looking at 2-4 HP difference in Vinshu's favor (or for that matter any of the catless pipes. However, the STI pipe has flex joint, which is supposed to fit better, leak less, and resist all the pressures that expanding/contracting pipes around it will put on it. - in other words - nothing fits like OEM. My understanding is that if you plan to run aftermarket headers ever, flex-pipes are recomended, although some headers come with their own uppipes, if you plan on keeping stock headers, the solid pipe works just fine as long as you get it to seal up when you install. The STI pipe also comes with more heat shielding than any of the aftermarket pipes, and doesn't require the turbo heat shield to be cut for proper fit. From what I've read, only 1 aftermarket uppipe lets you put ALL the heat shields back on, and Vishnu isn't it. Without them, you're raising underhood temps, and heating up the CV boot on the passanger's side more than you should causing it to fail more often. PDE is the only uppipe that has lets you reinstall all the heat shields.
