best downpipe to use

I was just wondering what downpipe i should get for my 03 wrx. i have been running stage 1 with the cobb accessport. i have heard that the cobb downpipe is one of the best and sounds the best. I have also heard Invidia has a good downpipe. any suggestions?? also i was wondering if anyone knows too much about the spt edition. i guess i have the spt muffler and the carbon fiber crap and everything, which i really dont like too much, but i was wondering if anyone else out there knows what else comes with the spt edition or something of that nature. my car had the stupid spt logo on the side which i took off cause it was fugly!!! but ya my main question is what would be the best downpipe and will sound the meanest!!! thanks everyone

Your tuning has started in the right direction so far. Next i would do an Uppipe to eliminate that first cat. Cobb/Bosal/Crucial are good ways to go for an uppipe. After that a downpipe is a good way to go, Cobb dp = great pipe but a little pricey. Invidia = pretty good pipe
Crucial DP is also a good way to go because it is thermally coated. Stick with these companies and you will be fine.

Also the SPT exhaust is an Axle-back piece so you might want to upgrade to a cat-back.
In that case i would just get a Cobb turbo back exhaust, you could also get a different cat-back if you please. Basically go in this order...Exhaust, Uppipe, Downpipe. Good luck.

hey thanks a lot!!! that really does help. if anyone else wants to reply about how their downpipes and exhausts sound that would be great too!! like what combos they have heard with uppipes and downpipes and full exhausts, like is all cobb a good way to go or could i get a cobb downpipe and a different cat back or should i just do a complete straight pipe from the exhaust and do a full turbo back. thanks everyone!!

Cobb is an expensive way to go if you want all new stuff.

As far as sound goes, I've heard lots of different WRX exhaust set ups and they all sound pretty good. A few of them are too loud for my taste though. If you're not concenred about high levels of dB then I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the above mentioned brands.

I love my TXS DP but it won't mate up with most aftermarket catbacks unless you don't mind going catless. I had to do some customizing to mate it to my Stromung CB but it was worth it. A TXS stealthback should bolt up to the SPT but you would have a bottleneck at the axelback.

If you want good suggestions it would help to know what type of tip (big, small or twin tip) you want and how loud you're willing to go.

I'm not 100% positive but I would think the TXS DP will let you hear the turbo and wastegate flutter more than any other. Have you ever seen one?

TXS (Turbo XS) is a huge bellmouth (4") and looks great. I love the way mine sounds with the Stromung catback (twin tip). It's not too loud but sounds mean at WOT.

What type of tip are you looking for and what noise level are you comfortable with?

Have you used either? I know Helix is a good DP for the $ but I've never heard of titek until you mentioned it. Looked it up and noticed it has what looks like a welded joint just below the bellmouth? The pic wasn't great so it was hard to tell.

IMO a lower price doesn't mean less performance so don't think I'm knocking either of your choices I'm just curios.

Yes, I agree. From what I've read it's a good quality piece at a great price. I was just wondering if the titek had a welded joint or if I'm seeing something that is not actually there. If it does I would go for the Helix over the titek.
