Exclamation Best Bov Money Can Buy?

I have a '02 wrx, mods: up and downpipes manual boost controler (pretty cheap looking) shorty intake, stage 3 spec clutch, and cat back exhaust, and a bigger intercooler. I have heard from forums that BOV's can cause problems because of 100% atmoshperic blow off which causes wrx's to stall out and run lean. What type of BOV can i get that would actually help my car, performace wise. (daily driver, utec coming in about 7 months).

P.S. should i just wait to buy the bov after the utec or does it make a difference

No BOV will "help your car performance-wise." The only reason to need one is because you're runing 19+ psi of boost. If you are, most any 100% recirc BOV will be fine.

I am set up for 16.5 psi so as i understood it i do not need a bov for that reason but as far as making my turbo last longer should I purchase one? I read a little bit about the bov's and from what i understand it keeps the boost up while shifting, which doesn't make the turbo instantly reverse its direction which can cause wear. If i am wrong please let me know, i am just wanting to know if a bov is a sound investment for a wrx with 16.5psi

like ban said you wont need one unless your over 20psi, the only reason to have one if your under that is if you like the sound, like most of us do. it seems that most ppl have the HKs bov so that must say something about it.

If its a 100% atmospheric BOV, then it actually loses boost during shifts (the pressure gets vented to the atmosphere). A partial atmospheric BOV (usually 50% atmo/50% recirc) is better because you will keep boost up, but its still not as good as a 100% recirculating BOV.

You already have a 100% recirculating BOV that functions very well, and you really don't need an upgraded one unless you start pushing more boost.

I have the HKS SSQV on my 04 and i havent had any problems with stalling or losing boost. As far as running rich goes, im not 100% sure but even if you do I dont imagine it being that bad.
