BAD biz practice by injen
Heres my long story. I purchased an Injen cold air intake for my 2002 wrx about 8 months ago. I've been keeping up with the after market market if u will ......and I've read all about how wrx's get NO added benefit of a cold air intake and I've heard of some mad hp cars that are getting rid of their intakes and replacing with the stockers.
I decided to sell my intake on ebay. Fate would have it that the VICE PRESIDENT of Injen Technologies emailed me and told me that I posted the WRONG pic - I put a 2002 celica intake instead of the 2002 wrx intake pic........MY BAD!!!! I fixed it!! I mentioned in the conversation that I was selling it because it has no effect on my car and cost a pretty penny. He replied with the following:
*A lot of people have a lack of resources and come up with these bogus conclusions. It is surprising to hear why you are selling our intake. By the way, I have the option of ending your auction because you used our photos illegally but I am letting it go. Sorry to hear you were not pleased with our part. So many others are very happy and excited about our exhaust.*

2. apparently all i-clubbers are misinformed and we should all belive injen who has NO dyno charts that I am presently aware of.
3. THREATEN TO END MY AUCTION BECAUSE I ILLEGALLY USED THEIR FARKIN PHOTO!??!?!?!?!?!??!?!??!!?!?!?!?!?!?
4. LETTING IT GO?!?!?!
5. EXHAUST???? WHO THE HELL SAID ANYTHING ABOUT EXHAUST?!?! IM SELLING A FARKIN INTAKE!!!
I am PISSED over this email and as a result am boycotting ANYTHING that comes from injen. If I don't sell my intake I'm going to attach it to the front of my car like a cadillac symbol and bad mouth it everywhere I go!!!

Well he probably DOES have the right to end your auction due to you using their copyrighted pictures. You should know that at least. As for everything else, well I guess he's just trying to protect Injen's product.

I don't know about CAI but SCC, Turbo or one of their sister mags claimed that they dynoed the Ingine CIA and got extra horses. I think they claimed 14 but I might be wrong. Does any one know what might be causing the discrepency in +,-, or static HP figures gleaned from dyno testing CAIs?
The guy form Ingen just has a bug up his but because no one with a WRX is buying his CAIs. Poor fellow.

Ya Ryan (VP of Injen) actually ended up making true on his threat, he had ebay retract my auction because he said I was infringing on Injens copyright by using a pic I found on the web (not injen.com)
So we had it out all day and night long emailing each other back and forth until he had my auction retracted. Then once I made a comment or two about all the rexers I know, and the resellers he decided to let it go and said he sent two emails to ebay to reinstate my auction.
So now it's either I try and sell it again or keep the damn thing in. At this point I'm so pissed off I don't really care either way as long as it's not losing hp or hurting my car. But I do feel totally screwed by injen, won't be doing business with them again.

Problem is I didn't take the pic from his site, so he has no right to do anything. But the point was, I never contacted injen about this, and I never said the thing was crap. It was purely a matter of personal taste. I know lots of peeps have the injen cai, but from all I've read there is no sense in me keeping mine. Just like Steppin Razor said, I'm just trying to get some money back on it to buy other stuff.
This whole ordeal was exactly what Andersonwrx
said, Ryan's pissed that he sees them up for sale on ebay. And the fact of the matter is that never once did I bad mouth injen, infact I told him I heard many good things about the company. So there's no reason to defend his product. My whole problem was I'm just a rexer tryin to sell a part and I gotta ho slapped ebay style just because some guy's really pissed off that I'm selling his product.
Well he said he'd make it right with ebay tomorrow, and I think it's the LEAST he can do now that he farked me! So anything less than allowing the auction to go on and I'm gonna stir bad publicity for injen's customer service

Not to claim they do not exist, but I never met a serious tuner who didn't have a Civic and who wasn't sponsered by Injen who actually ran with Injen parts.

Of my 6 years in the import scene, although no one ever told what opinion to have, I've always been of the opinion that Injen products are rice... not very well engineered and made for looks.
FWIW - the only intake I would ever buy would be one by Knight Engineering, namely, ICEMAN. Heat resistent, smooth and straightest path silicone tubing. But I do not believe that Knight Engineering has produced one for the WRX... that says something too... like maybe they've tried and found its not necessary.
Put that Injen intake on the train tracks and after the train comes by mail the intake back to Injen. No return address.

I never said injen is crap tho, I really dont know if it's. I just want to know how many of you guys have or had intakes in general for the rex and deep sixed them for the stocker again? I'm 99% sure thats what I'm going to do.

I am running a Blitz short ram intake and I like it. I have checked with TurboXS who have dynoed more than a few for UTEK maps and say the Blitz is a good intake. That said, they said they believe the resonator mod for the stock system and a K&N gives about the same performance but that without the mod the stock CAI is restrictive and the mod and the Blitz can net around 8 HP. I would not buy one knowing what I know now, I paid like $260.00 or so, but I would not get rid of it either.
