Anyone know where i hook up the restrictor bleed?

For the last month or so my car's been boosting about 8 PSI, I was told that I needed to buy a restrictor bleed, which i did. Anyone know which hose i put it into?

Don't add things. Fix the problem. 8psi is ~wastegate boost, so something is preventing the FBC from bleeding pressure. It's most likely:

*the FBC is stuck closed from age
*the little black plastic piece in the line from the factory T to the FBC is melted shut

I hope it helps. As mexicanpizza was saying, what made your boost control system change during the last month, if it was working as it should before?

i had a MBC, but i went back to stock about a month ago. I installed the restrictor bleeder, but now it's not boosting at all. I used a smaller hose so that i could stick the bleeder in tightly, and connected it to the original hose, but I think it's too long. My car is not boosting at all. I followed the diagram, but i don't know how long each hose should be. Has anyone had this same problem before? If so, how did you fix it? thsnks

should the bleeder be positioned somewhere specific in the hose?

Off the top of my head, the hose with the restrictor bleed is just a few inches long, with the bleed positioned about the half-way point. I don't think the length of the hose must be precise because the bleed itself is the major restriction. Longer length of hose = greater restriction = higher peak boost, but don't make a super long hose to adjust boost.

Is it possible that you have the restrictor bleed installed in the wrong hose? In the Subaruparts.com diagram the bleed is labeled as reference number 22326. Note its position in both exploded diagram of factory boost control hoses and when installed on turbo. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics to attach...

i positioned the bleeder based on what the diagram said. It work fine the first night i installed it, but the following morning It wasn't boosting at all. Normally without the bleeder it would only boost to half a bar. Now it's not boosting at all with or without the bleeder. I'm afraid it might be something worst. My car feels like it doesn't have a turbo. And yes I did check under the hood to make sure it's still there.

I think WW is talking about the tiny restrictor pill...and blackwagonwrx is talking about a bleeder type MBC.

That's what I bought from the deallership, the orifice. Without it my car was boosting about half a bar, when i installed it it ran fine, but only that night. The following morning it wasn't boosting at all. with or without the orifice.

That's weird.

It doesn't sound like the car is very driveable. Can you swing by the Sac meet in Natomas tomorrow at 6pm? There should be some folks there who have more experience troubleshooting boost anomalies than I do. One member had a boost solenoid fail but I can't recall the steps he took to reason that out.

Make sure the black coupler in the line from the T to the FBC is not melted shut. That would give you wastegate boost ~7psi.
