hey all ive been reading post for about two hours now here and on nabisco, this weekend i will be installing a helix full tbe with up pipe and catted dp. also will be marrying my cobb. stage 2. im not two familiar with the up pipe, is there a sensor in the stock up pipe, and is it the factory egt. ive read that you do not want to put a aftermarket egt there becuase it will burn up and end up in your turbo. should the stock egt (if thats what is in there ) be put there in the up pipe will the stock egt burn up? do i need the aftermarket egt for a cobb stage 2 with full tbe and up pipe. any advise would be helpfull thanks silvrbulit04

No, you do not want an EGT probe there. Yes, it breaking up and killing your turbine is a possibility, but not likely. The reason you don't want it there is because its too cold a spot to get useful readings. I have my EGT probe on the header plenum only about an inch from the exhaust port on the head... and yes, if it was destroyed it would chew up the turbine. The chances of that happening are far less than the chances of wrecking your engine from running high EGTs. Don't bother installing an EGT gauge if you don't put the probe in a useful place. Anywhere near the turbo, before or after, is too cold to be useful.
