Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

330 awhp last week

Could only squeeze 330.6 awhp out today (calculated 468.7hp @ the crank) at Dyno-Comp. Maxed out at 19psi. My Greddy external wastegate prevented anything higher due to the weaker spring installed. I ordered a 1.4+ kg/cm2 spring today that should allow us to easily hit 25psi and 425+. The car is running strong right now, can't imagine what's to come................Ok, yes I can.

ENGINE

· Ported/polished USDM heads
· Sleeved cylinders
· JE Forged Pistons
· Eagle "H" Beam Connecting Rods
· GReddy T67 Turbo
· GReddy Type R External Wastegate
· GReddy Front Mount Intercooler
· Apexi AVR Boost Controller
· GReddy AirInx Intake
· GReddy Oil Catch Can
· GReddy Type S BOV
· GReddy Evo Exhaust
· GReddy Oil Cap
· GReddy Radiator Cap
· Performance Enterprise 650cc Injectors
· Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump
· Fluidyne Radiator
· PDE Uppipe
· Excedy Stage 2 Clutch Kit w/lightened flywheel
· Polished IC Pipes and MAF Housing
· Thermal Flex Intercooler Hoses
· Defi dash mount gauge pod
· Defi Oil Pressure
· Defi Oil Temperature Gauge
· Defi Fuel Pressure Gauge
· Defi Boost gauge (pilar mounted)
· Defi Exhaust Temp gauge (pilar mounted)

The motor was built based on Easystreet Performances advice. They say it should be safe up to 700 crank hp. I'm shooting for 550-575 at the crank. The new stiffer wastegate spring was $36 and Richard at Dyno Comp says we should get another 80-100 at the wheels with this "mod". Talk about cheap HP

Nice. Are you using 8cm^2 or 10cm^2 exhaust housing?

Thumbs up

Hit 364.1 awhp last Friday at Dyno-Comp. We installed the new stiffer wastgate spring for this tune and was able to hit 23-24psi. I think thats all she has without stepping up to 850cc injectors.(currently running PE650's)

On this tune, timing is advanced 29 degrees, AFR is ~12.0-12.1

Not to bad for a little EJ20.

There are 3 graphs in 1 on the HP and AFR charts

B setting 24psi, 364
A setting 18.5psi, 310
Boost controller off 16psi, 248

That's it for this setup, the 2.0 is being swapped out for a built STi 2.5L stage 5 motor, upgrading to PE850's and throwing in an STi RA gearset. Should be back on the road around the 1st week in July.

I'm getting my 02 WRX tuned by Dyno-Comp next week or the week after; my goals are a lot more modest than yours, but it is good to know that those guys can push the envelope beyond belief. Amazing numbers!

i'd say you need to get rid of those pe650's and get 800+, and if you were rebuilding your motor... did you upgrade the cams or valvetrain?

good #'s so far but for sure those pe650's are holding you back with that big of a turbo along with your cams

It should give me a somewhat safe ~500 awhp setup

Are you making all that power on a stock wrx tranny? if so god bless. But why are you going with a built USDM STI motor and a 5 spd RA gear set? why not the 6spd STI?
