3" or 3 1/5" turbo back

I cannot make up my mind to pick a 3" turbo back exhust or a 3 1/5" turbo back exhust. I want something catless and to sound and perform well. I currently don't have any other mods but plan on doing a lot (goal is 500whp). I plan on buying a gt30 or a gt35 turbo, aps cold air intake, exhust, lowering springs, etc. I have heard with the 3" you still have a lot more torgue then you would with the 3 1/5", but don't know if I should go with the 3 then when I upgrade my turbo get the 3 1/5 or just go for the 3 1/5 from the start. I should probably add that I wont be able to purchase a new turbo for about a year, but want to get the exhust in a month or so, any suggestions? Also anyone got anything they really like that is catless? All I have really heard about is the aps systems. Does hks make a turbo back? If so were can I find one?

hks does not make a turboback...but the sell downpipes and catback individually. you dont want a hks downpipe tho because of the mouth. its not belmouth or divorced wastegate, it has the same mouth as stock...get a helix downpipe and any catback of your choice. most catbacks perform the same anyways

I cannot make up my mind...
Please begin by filling out the Car field in your member Profile, accessible from the User CP (Control Panel). It's better when we don't have to guess which model and year car you drive.

Check the Reviews section for member reviews of parts that you are thinking of getting. If the parts have not yet been reviewed, use forum Search feature to see if anything has been posted.

500 whp? What's your intended use for the car? Do you have road course experience? Drag strip, only? If 500 whp is your goal, this may come as a bit too late but you bought the wrong type of car for a streetable 500 whp.

Have you previously owned any other performance cars?

Well to answer your question. Go with the 3". I run the 3" APS single on my wagon. It sounds great, fitment was perfect. It is a really nice TBE. Your chances of maxing out this exhausts capacity for flow are pretty slim. Not to rain on your parade or anything but , 500whp is a little unrealistic. You can tune these cars quite well but, you need to compromise between streetability and your quest for tuning prowess. 300-350whp is a pretty good goal for a 2.0 wagon. You'll be suprised How time and money and resourses your going to need just to achieve the high end of 350whp.
Late,
Jeff

The 3 inch exhaust works well. Having the 3 inch will retain a lot of the lower end torque. Going with the 3.5 will make you lose low end torque initially; however, you will have more potential to do more with your power.
